5.1. Dengue Surveillance:
As a major public health concern, Dengue is endemic throughout Sri Lanka, including all districts of the Central Province,
where the epidemics have been occuring with increased magnitudes periodically. Transmission persists throughout the year,
though cases typically surge during the South-West (May - August) and North-East (October - January) monsoons.
Management of the disease involves a multi level approach from village based activities to district wide initiatives,
all of which are monitored by provincial and national authorities. In line with the national strategy, a dedicated Provincial
Task Force was established in the Central Province to lead these efforts..
